The Heart of Central America

The smallest country in Central America, El Salvador’s terrain consists of highlands, valleys, volcanoes, a coastal plain, the Sierra Madre mountain range and 209 miles of Pacific coastline.

Coffee plantations in El Salvador encompass thousands of hectares of fertile volcanic soil. Coffee is distributed in three major zones of the country, and concentrated in five geographical areas:

To the west:

- Apaneca-Lamatepec Mountain Range

At the center of the country:

 

- Central Belt
- Chichontepec

To the east:

- Tecapa- Chinameca Mountain Range
- Cacahuatique Mountain Range

The bulk of coffee production, 61% comes from the western part of the country, 24% from the central area, while the remaining 15% comes from the eastern part of the national territory.
